It is called ( Beduru/Kwahu nsusoa/Tinvii tinvii/Kantosey etc in Ghana.
Beduru or Kwahu Nsusoa is a popular vegetable in Ghana that is used in many dishes in Ghana but how many of us really know its English name and its medicinal properties?
Well if you’ve ever wondered, the right name in English is (Turkey Berries with a scientific name of Solanum Torvum) its origin is Africa.
Solanum Torvum also called as turkey berry/ devil's fig/ prickly night shade/ shoo shoo bush/ pea egg plant/ pea aubergine/wild egg plant/ sundakkai in Tamil/ usthikaya in Telugu/ bhankatiya in Hindi is known for it's amazing health benefits. My grandfather always insisted that we have a turkey berry plant in our home. Researches have shown the effectiveness of turkey berry in treating anemia and other variety of stomach ailments. We dry the turkey berries and make wonderful gravy with it. I really love the gravy. The only problem is, when you want to treat anemia, you have to eat turkey berry on a regular basis. This turkey berry soup is perfect to make on a daily basis, as it very easy to make it. This soup is really tasty and I love the taste of this soup. I am going to make sure that I make this soup at least weekly twice for my family. Regular consumption of this soup raises the blood count. This soup also treats stomach ulcers and also aids digestion. To make this turkey berry soup, you have to clean the berries; else the soup will be bitter. To clean, pound the fresh turkey berries in a mortar and pestle. Add the pounded turkey berries to a bowl of water and wash them well by rubbing them between your fingers, the seeds will settle down. Wash them once more and now the turkey berries are ready for the soup. If you are suffering from insomnia, try drinking this often for best results. If you are planning to give it to the children, decrease the quantity of peeper in the pounded mixture. Drink this soup hot and you will be making this often both for it taste and for its health benefits. It’s actually a sweet heart to pregnant women in terms of anemia.
Not many people like the lonely turkey berry plant (known as Solanum torvuml which is grown in our garden because we are not aware of its medicinal value which cures many diseases. You all will be amazed to know the uses of this small plant that we commonly find in our house garden if you come to know about its characteristics.
Turkey Berry belongs to the plant species and its flowers are white in colour and are found in clusters. The Turkey Berry fruit is green in colour and it appears like a very small brinjal. Turkey Berry plant grows in our house garden and also in hilly areas.
NOTE: The Turkey Berry that grows in hilly areas has a more bitter taste than that of the berries that are grown in our house garden.

USES OF TURKEY BERRY:
We can use consume the fresh Turkey Berries plucked from the plant and also we can consume it in the dried form. It is better to have the fresh Turkey Berry than the dried one. It has the potential to kill the germs and also acts as a medicine for cold, and also helps in problems related to the chest and stomach. And people who have diarrhea, stomach ache, piles, tuberculosis should use Turkey berry as a part of their food. And taking Turkey Berry regularly will help in strengthening the nerves.
